He’s a journalist by trade, but left newspapers and broadcasting behind to concentrate on video. He set up Rufus Runs Fast in 2009 to serve businesses and organisations in the North East of Scotland. Find out more about the business elsewhere on this site.
Growing up
He was born in London, but moved with his family to the small town of Brechin – it’s actually a city because it has a cathedral! It’s hidden away off the A90, half way between Dundee, Aberdeen, the mountains and the sea.
Career
He studied archaeology at Southampton University, then got into newspapers and worked around the Home Counties until the end of 1994, when he returned to Scotland. He retrained as a radio broadcaster, and joined the BBC in 1999. He worked in Aberdeen, Shetland, Orkney, Glasgow and London. For seven years Sam was producer of BBC Radio Scotland’s food, farming and rural affairs programme Grassroots, then he took redundancy in May 2008.
Rufus Runs Fast
Since 2009, all the work he does has been online. He spends his days in front of a laptop running his business, editing video or hauling gear around shooting video for clients. Rufus Runs Fast is a fun, creative and exciting business.
